People decide to participate in research studies for all kinds of reasons, but whatever your inspiration, know that you’re appreciated, and that you’re impacting lives for the better.
Here at the Envision Research Institute (ERI), our studies are extremely varied, but they all share a common goal: to remove functional barriers for people who are blind or visually impaired. That’s where you come in, because progress starts with participants, and we can’t conduct innovative research without you!
While you may or may not directly benefit from a study, your participation will greatly benefit people who are blind or visually impaired by enhancing our scientific understanding of the visual system and how it adapts to change. Ultimately, your involvement means another step toward advancing fundamental knowledge, treatment, rehabilitation and accessibility for those with blindness or visual impairment.
What can I expect?
If you decide to participate, you’ll be informed about the following and more:
- How long we anticipate the study to last
- The roles and expertise of all personnel involved
- The general purpose and nature of the research
- Potential risks, if any, or possible benefits to you
- Alternative procedures or courses of treatment
Of course, we’ll also let you know your rights as a participant, and our researcher or research assistant will be available to answer any questions throughout the process. Please explore the studies that are currently open and let us know if you’d like to get involved.
